Job Summary:
The Senior Revenue Cycle Business Analyst possesses broad knowledge of financial analysis and management skills relevant to physician practice management or clinical program development. The analyst is responsible for developing processes and acts as a resource and customer service liaison which effectively and efficiently supports decision makers within Rush University Medical Group. The analyst supports RUMC and RUMG leadership in the analysis and evaluation of tactical and operational components of both existing and potential RUMG physician practices, as well as with the development of strategies and plans for these practices. This individual will evaluate physician practice operations, assess contribution to business objectives, and recommend goals. The analyst works with RUMG Finance leadership, RUMG Department Administrators, and Directors of Operations in developing ad-hoc reports on financial variances, revenue cycle KPIs, and other reporting needs. individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
Manage new service line setups in collaboration with RUMG clinical departments, revenue cycle, and key stakeholders to ensure proper setup, following project through to ensure financial stability/benefit
Serves as finance, coding, and Medicare & commercial payer SME to RUMG clinical/operational departments, and provides small group or one-on-one training or facilitation as needed
Supports the development and implementation of a RUMG-wide strategy for the evaluation and assessment of Rush ambulatory operational practices and makes recommendations to senior RUMG leaders.
Utilizes EPIC transactional cube, Axiom and Link reporting, functionality, and analytics.
Reviews actual vs. budget performance monthly for RUMG Operations accounting units and assists with budget variance explanations for needed RUMG operational areas.
Ensures alignment of RUMG department revenues and expenses within correct accounting unit.
Contributes to operating and capital budgeting process with key operations stakeholders from RUMG; partners with Corporate Finance on capital allocation for RUMG.
Perform a wide range of high-level and detailed analytical functions for RUMG/RUMC in relation to revenue cycle management including but not limited to charge lag, payor mix, denials, financial performance, and reimbursement comparisons
Identify potential sources of revenue leakage and assist in developing data-driven initiatives to resolve issues
Conduct special projects as needed
Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports as needed
Identify potential charging issues through comparison of prior year CPT/CDM activity to current year performance
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, accounting, finance or related field; or equivalent years of relevant experience in addition to the minimum requirements.
Six (6) years related revenue cycle work experience
Minimum three (3) years' work experience associated with hospital financial analytics
High-level analytical and financial modeling skills
Working knowledge of RVU's, CPT, CDM, HCPCS, and ICD codes, Medicare Diagnosis-Related Groups, Medicare's Outpatient Prospective Payment System and Ambulatory Patient Classifications
Knowledge of non-government commercial payer's policies and billing requirements
Intermediate skill set in MS Office Suite including MS Power Point and MS Word applications
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Knowledge and prior use of Epic Resolute Professional Billing or Resolute Hospital Billing applications
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience creating written policies and procedures
Working knowledge of SQL
Project Management or Epic Certification(s)
